LPN to RN Completion for an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing
General Admission Information
There is no set number of LPN students accepted into each Nursing Program class. LPN students are accepted on a case-by-case basis to supplement the Nursing Program.
LPNs who have current acute care experience have had the most success in the Program.
It is in the best interest of the LPN student to begin nursing coursework as soon as possible even if it means retaking a previously completed nursing course during LPN coursework. 1st year nursing coursework taught with the goal of RN in mind is different than that taught with the goal of LPN in mind.
Each LPN interested should coordinate an advisement appointment with an Admissions Representative and the Nursing Program Administrator to determine the best semester to apply to begin the RN Program.
Each LPN must complete the LPN to RN Admissions Application which can be obtained from the Nursing Admissions office.
Provo College policy on transfer credit: “No more than 50% of a student’s program may consist of transfer credits. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) may transfer up to 65% of previous academic coursework into the Associate Nursing Degree program.” (Provo College Catalog, pg. 26, revised Dec. 2007)
A maximum of 46.5 credits may be transferred toward Nursing Program completion.
Please contact Mickie Miller to schedule an advisement appointment (801.818.8904).
